Sustainability

The Atlantic Red Crab fishery runs from Cape Hatteras Light, North Carolina to the US-Canada border. Covering over 220,000 square miles, the fishery was largely untouched until the 1980's. Around the mid-1990's, Mr. Williams saw the opportunity hidden at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and began developing a market for Atlantic Red Crab.

The success led to the industry requested that the New England Fishery Management Council develop a limited access management plan. By the fall of 2009, the red crab fishery was certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.

As the health of our oceans becomes increasingly at risk, we pledge to continue our mission to change the future of commercial fishing.

"The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore."
